Biography – Damien Schmidt

Damien Schmidt is excited about solving problems and building the future! He is a born entrepreneur and a marketing and communications expert with years of experience. He has a broad field of experience which spans from entertainment to branding and design, technology and education.

Born into an entrepreneurial family, Damien set out during his early years creating a career for himself in entrepreneurship. Damien initiated and co-founded Godfatha Sounds (entertainment group), co-founded 1st Line Tech (a computer and tech support project) and recently founded his latest venture, #DASTRU Consulting (an internet communications agency which helps female entrepreneurs and start-ups).

As a marketing and communications consultant, Damien has consulted with companies and organizations helping them to add value to their consumers and build lasting relationships. Companies Damien has worked with include; HOPE Entrepreneurship (now Erasmus Center of Entrepreneurship), Division Study Financing St. Maarten, Riddim-Up and Tapas Del Mondo Restaurants, among others. Damien has created major growth for these companies, helping to double and sometimes even triple their initial reach.

Damien also helped St. Maarten Student Support Services (S4 Foundation) in successfully re-branding the entire organization and lead a successful social media campaign which almost doubled the Facebook page Likes in one day!

Damien has developed various branding and promotional models, most notably the LOVE Q model, which highlights the process of how persons fall in love with each other (and with brands). He also uses this model to give workshops and guest lectures to various audiences, ranging from students to experts.

Always wanting to give back to his community, in 2012 Damien started an initiative to help bring innovative entrepreneurship closer to the youth in the Dutch Caribbean islands! Damien partnered with the Mega D Youth foundation and hosted the first ever Youth Entrepreneurship Seminar on St. Eustatius.

Damien Schmidt has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and he is one of the first ever graduates from the INHolland University program; Media & Entertainment Management in The Hague (the Netherlands). He also studied for several years in the area of electronics and information technology.
